The Air Pollution Control Division of the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment has established a steering committee to support the development of rules that will apply to upstream oil and gas operators that do not meet federal ozone pollution standards.
The Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Reduction Steering Committee began meeting in March. During its meetings, members engage in technical discussions on potential strategies to reduce NOx pollution. The focus is on reducing NOx emissions from oil and gas exploration and production processes in areas of Colorado that do not meet federal ozone pollution standards. In addition to the steering committee’s monthly technical meetings, the division will host two public meetings later in 2024.
Steering committee meetings are held virtually, and your state is welcome to observe. Register to attend a meeting: May 1 at 1-3 p.m. Mountain Time (register here), and May 29 at 1-3 p.m. Mountain Time (register here). See additional meetings in June, July, and August on the division’s website.
